The Lord will surely comfort Zion . . . .
(God's people had been disobedient and rebellious, unfaithful and unrepentant.
Their choices and actions had caused serious and devastating consequences for them:
banishment from their home, exile to a foreign and harsh land,
and complete and utter ruin and devastation for them.
Yet the Lord remained faithful to them.
He knew their sin and yet had compassion and mercy for them.
When we look at God's character, at His history with His people,
at the ancient people from whom we descend and their history with God,
we can be assured that He will surely comfort Zion,
His chosen city, His chosen people.
Today, as we look at His history with us, we can place our own name here
and know the Lord will surely comfort us today, as well.)
May the Lord richly bless you this day!
In Christ's love,
