The Lord Be With You Today!

Isaiah 49:14-15
But Zion said, “The Lord has forsaken me, the Lord has forgotten me.”
(Pouring out our hearts before the Lord is what He desires.
If we are feeling this way, He already knows it,
so we might as well go ahead and confess it to Him.
Once we have made our confession to Him about the deep places in our thinking,
then we need to remember that, as we continue in this vein,
we merely align ourselves with the enemy of our souls.
Then our cry, our declaration, our desperation,
actually agrees with the enemy and his lies,
he whose goal is to completely destroy us,
that we are forsaken and forgotten by God.
When we are in the midst of trials and challenges,
we so often tend to believe the lies of the enemy
who tells us that we are abandoned and alone,
that we are on our own and unsupported,
that the Lord really is not faithful, and that His Word really is not true.)
“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast
and have no compassion on the child she has borne?

(The Lord's reply to our complaint is to remind us
of the faithfulness He has instilled in mothers
and the absolute impossibility for a mother to abandon her newborn babe.
As the very source of the baby's life and sustenance,
a mother is enraptured and captured by the helplessness
and dependence of her baby and the child's complete reliance on her.)
Though she may forget, I will not forget you!"
(Even if the unthinkable should happen and a mother should abandon the child
to whom she is indelibly linked from that child's connection in her own body,
the Lord declares to us today that His connection to us His beloved
is far stronger than the strongest human link we know on earth.
Our challenge today is to do more than just give mental assent to His promise,
but, instead, to embrace as full and undeniable and unwavering truth
that the Lord is with us, has chosen to connect Himself to us,
is intimately aware of our needs, nurtures us, and is forever faithful to us.)

May the Lord richly bless you this day!
