The Lord Be With You Today!
"Ignorant are those who carry about idols of wood,
who pray to gods that cannot save."
(Why such a repeated emphasis on idol worship throughout Scripture?
Because we are so prone to turn to other gods to worship
instead of the one, true, living God, the Lord God Almighty.
What constitutes an idol?
Anyone or anything that gets more of our focus and devotion than God,
anyone or anything that comes between God and us.
The Lord reminds us once again how foolish we are
when we step into a side path to kneel and worship
at the altars of idols of own making.
Today, our idols are much more subtle and insidious
than the wooden and forged idols of long ago.
Today, we are entrenched with the idols of un-forgiveness,
or fear, or hopelessness, or anger, or material possessions, or job titles,
though not a single one of these things has the power to save us,
and, in fact, do us great harm.
As we turn our hearts and minds today toward God and worship Him only,
we turn to the one and only God Who can save us today.)
May the Lord richly bless you this day!
In Christ's love,
