The Lord Be With You Today!

Isaiah 40:13-14
Who can fathom the Spirit of the
or instruct the
Lord as His counselor?
Whom did the
Lord consult to enlighten Him,
and who taught Him the right way?
Who was it that taught Him knowledge,
or showed Him the path of understanding?
(Our finite minds and thinking cannot know
the unimaginable fullness and vastness of this God we serve,
the pure knowledge, complete wisdom, and immeasurable power of the Lord,
and yet we try to tell God what we need,
when we need it, and how we want it delivered.
We try to "instruct" the Lord.
We try to "enlighten" Him and to teach Him what we need
as if we have to convince Him to act on our behalf,
as if He is a slightly deaf and a bit slow
and must not have heard us when we prayed.
While He invites us to ask Him for our needs
and eagerly desires that we speak to Him the matters of our heart,
we need to do the asking in light of the act of putting into words
what He already knows about us,
an act of faith on our part that we know He cares
and supplies our needs beyond what we could ever know to ask for,
that our asking is in the context of the arena
of the intimacy of relationship-building into which He invites us.
When we focus on Him and trust His all-knowing,
majestic, and sovereign knowledge and understanding
of us and of our circumstances,
we wisely place ourselves in His good and loving hands.)

May the Lord richly bless you this day!

In Christ’s love,
