The Lord Be With You Today!
For the grave cannot praise You, death cannot sing Your praise;
those who go down to the pit cannot hope for Your faithfulness.
The living, the living—they praise You, as I am doing today;
parents tell their children about Your faithfulness.
(As Hezekiah gives praise to the Lord for His mighty rescue from death,
he reminds himself that his purpose now in life has changed,
that this new lease on life compels him to speak to the world about the Lord
Whom he serves and Who has rescued him.
While we may never know all the reasons for our suffering this side of Heaven,
we can know that God is always with us.
Through Hezekiah’s prayer of thanksgiving for his healing,
the Lord shows us that we are saved to speak forth the praises of God,
to be a living testimony to His faithfulness and intervention and healing.
We are delivered from all the many pits in which we find ourselves entrapped
so that, through the deeper, personal, objective, and concrete experience
of coming to know the Lord as Rescuer and Savior,
we praise Him as the Source of all we are
and tell others with conviction today about His healing and deliverance.)
May the Lord richly bless you this day!
In Christ’s love,
