The Lord Be With You Today!

Isaiah 37:24b-25
And you have said, ‘With my many chariots
I have ascended the heights of the mountains, the utmost heights of Lebanon.
I have cut down its tallest cedars, the choicest of its junipers.
I have reached its remotest heights, the finest of its forests.
I have dug wells in foreign lands and drunk the water there.
With the soles of my feet I have dried up all the streams of Egypt.
(The Assyrian army has boasted to the small kingdom of Judah
about its past mighty victories, claims only too true,
having overcome seeming impassable geographic obstacles
and accomplished impossible feats of strength
that would have daunted a less powerful force.
As the invading soldiers now stand at the very gate of Jerusalem,
their presence and threat were real.
Their focus, however, was pride-centered,
ambitions and successes based in their own strengths.
In their arrogance, by defying God’s people, they are defying God Himself
and are about to be confronted by God Himself,
against Whom even their mightiest claims are nothing.
All their pride and arrogance are meaningless.
For us today, while we may be threatened with situations and challenges
no less daunting and no less powerful,
we can take heart that the Lord Himself has heard the enemy’s challenge,
has seen the situations rise against us, and has taken those threats to Himself.
The situations we face today aren’t arrayed against us only,
but they face the indomitable and omnipotent Presence
and fortress of the Lord our God.
Today, God Himself speaks on our behalf, calling these situations to account.)

May the Lord richly bless you this day!

In Christ’s love,
