The Lord Be With You Today!
"Now, Lord our God, deliver us from his hand,
so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know
that you, Lord, are the only God.”
(Finally, after words of recognition of the sovereignty of God,
after redirecting the Assyrian threat from himself and Israel back to God Himself,
after admitting the historical and impending impact of this threat,
after voicing the ineffectiveness and inadequacies
of his own human strength and strategies,
Hezekiah now declares the truth of God’s interests
in using this situation to reveal Himself.
He declares that the Lord will use even this threat
to make Himself strong on Hezekiah’s behalf.
The Lord has shown us through Hezekiah’s prayer how to pray today.
We first take the situation to the Lord,
and acknowledge through His Name
His committed, intimate, and covenantal relationship with us,
and then give Him all the details that we know
as an intentional act of turning the need completely over to Him,
and then admit our own inability to withstand the enemy’s attacks
using our own meager inner resources,
and then asking Him to defend His Name,
declaring that He alone is God
and that He uses whatever happens to us today
to further His mighty purposes in us.)
May the Lord richly bless you this day!
In Christ’s love,
