(As the Lord speaks to His beloved Jerusalem,
the place where He chose to dwell among His people of old,
He compares her to a ship that has been caught in a violent storm
or a whirlwind and ravaged by the destructive force of the winds and waves.
He is also speaking to us whose lives today
may be lashed by the winds of adversity and hardship,
of financial difficulty, of broken relationships, of health issues,
all places where we have felt alone and without comfort or an advocate.)
I will rebuild you with stones of turquoise,
your foundations with lapis lazuli."
(The Lord Himself sees His people's hardship,
and He Himself promises to rescue us from the storm
and to rebuild us on a foundation where even the lowly cement
that holds the priceless stones will be a fitting setting
that only serves to show off even more brilliantly
the beauty of the jewels with which He will build our lives.
The Hebrew phrase for this line refers to the dark coloring
that women of the day used to set off the sparkle and light of their eyes.
The parts of our lives that connect the jewels of triumph and overcoming
will be of such beauty that they will compliment the victories
the Lord provides for us through the hardships.
He Himself will be the Mason Who lays down the most costly and beautiful cement
to form a strong foundation for our lives in Him.)
May the Lord richly bless you this day!
In Christ's love,
