The Lord Be With You Today!
“Sing, barren woman, you who never bore a child;
burst into song, shout for joy, you who were never in labor;
because more are the children of the desolate woman
than of her who has a husband,” says the Lord.
(Though she has been a barren wife and has been set aside
by the One Who has called her His wife to allow her
to walk out the consequences of her rebellion and disobedience,
the Lord is reminding captive Israel, exiled to Babylon,
that she now has reason to sing for joy..
God is reminding His beloved Israel that her offspring,
the harvest of souls that He will cause to come from her as her progeny,
brought about by her Messiah, will be Israel's "children,"
those through the ages who are saved by Jesus' sacrifice
and adopted into God's Family and that we will be a great multitude.
Here, again, we who are in desperate situations today,
unable to bring forth and walk out
the kind of life and impact that we had hoped for,
or, perhaps, felt we might once have had,
and who feel barren and unproductive,
feeling set aside and of little use in the kingdom,
can be assured that even this season of desolation and seeming unfruitfulness
is, in fact, through His work in us, of great value
as He prepares the kind of outflow and issue from us that He has desired for us.
Here, we are reminded that the Lord
turns even our desolation into a rich harvest.)
May the Lord richly bless you this day!
