The Lord Be With You Today!
"Like a shepherd’s tent my house has been pulled down and taken from me.
Like a weaver I have rolled up my life, and He has cut me off from the loom;
day and night You made an end of me.
I waited patiently till dawn, but like a lion He broke all my bones;
day and night You made an end of me."
(Hezekiah, king of Judah and a prayer warrior,
meditates on his near-death illness.
As he had faced death earlier, he realized his life on earth was ending.
Just as easily as a tent is folded up,
just as easily as a weaver removes his finished work from the loom,
Hezekiah had recognized the fragility of his life.
He confesses now that, even in that experience, even in facing death,
he knows the Lord Himself used the ravages of the disease
to bring him to the end of his life.
We, like Hezekiah, see situations and circumstances in our lives today
that communicate utter hopelessness
and point to an end to the life to which we cling.
Even in those situations, however, the Lord is powerfully present.
In His great love, it is He Who uses those situations for His purposes,
Who folds up the tent of our endeavors,
Who cuts us off from the work of our hands,
Who breaks us with situations that are more than we can handle,
Who pulls us to our end, Who declares the end of our days.
Hezekiah’s ensuing healing grants him the opportunity
to rejoice in his recovery and the wonder of God’s intervention in his life.
Today, we, too, can rejoice in that from which the Lord has delivered us
and to His working miraculously in our lives.)
May the Lord richly bless you this day!
