The Lord Be With You Today!
The poor and needy search for water, but there is none;
their tongues are parched with thirst.
(Israel was in exile in Babylon and desperately needed
the water of the Lord’s presence and provision in their desert of hardship.
Whether we consciously recognize it or not,
whether we are in our own exile or desert place,
we, too, are always poor and needy.
Whether we are in good times or bad,
we are always in desperate need of the water of life found in Christ,
and our souls are parched for His living water.
Though we may search for answers and provision in other places,
only His life-giving sustenance will meet our needs.
Nothing else will satisfy our thirst for Him.)
But I the LORD will answer them;
(God, Who has made a covenant of love toward us,
is always faithful to answer our call when we cry out in need.
He is the One Who makes a promise that cannot and will not be broken.)
I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.
(These are His promises: that He will answer our cry for help
and that He will never forsake us!
Just to make that claim more substantial and real to us,
He links His Name to ours:
Today He is the God of…"put your name here,"
and He will not forsake…"put your name here!")
May the Lord richly bless you this day!
In Christ’s love,
