The Lord Be With You Today!
"I will bring your children from the east
and gather you from the west.
(Specifically, even though Israel had been exiled from their homeland,
a result of their sin and disobedience,
the Lord vows He will return them to their home
no matter where they have been exiled.
The Lord promises us, too, even in the exile of hardships and challenges
to bring us out of the east where we have wandered,
out of the west where we have been banished,
to a place of comfort and home and safety in Him.
If children are thought of in a broader sense as being the harvest of seed sown,
here the Lord tenderly reminds us He reaps
all that we have sown from our beginning days in Him,
from the beginning of our life in Him,
all the way through to our end in Him and to the end of our life in Him.)
6 I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’
(Israel had been invaded by enemies from the north.
Even when we have been invaded and overcome by forces from the north,
the Lord requires those invading armies to give us back to Him.)
and to the south, ‘Do not hold them back.’"
(Israel had been enslaved by an enemy force in the south.
Even when we are brought into slavery,
the Lord delivers us and will not permit
the "Egypts" in our lives to keep us in slavery.)
May the Lord richly bless you this day!
