The Lord Be With You Today!
He was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
so He did not open His Mouth.
(Picturing the ultimate fulfillment
of the Old Testament's yearly sacrificial, Passover lamb
that God had commanded of His people
to commemorate their exodus from the land of slavery and oppression,
Jesus became the once-and-for-all, the final, Passover Lamb,
the complete sacrifice that provides the triumphant exodus for us
from the place of slavery to sin and its effects in our lives today,
as well as the ultimate death it promises.
Besides the amazing message of Christ's provision for us,
another lesson for us in this passage
is that the Lord embraced the cross that lay before Him.
Often, when we are "led like a lamb to the slaughter,"
when we find ourselves in difficult situations,
even when those challenges facing us
are due to our own foolish and often sinful choices,
we resist and complain and wonder
how a just and loving God could inflict such punishment on us.
If we follow Christ's example, instead,
we embrace the difficult situation, as well as the pain acompanying it,
knowing that the Lord is doing a mighty work
both in us and through us even in the difficulty.)
May the Lord richly bless you this day!
In Christ's love,
