(In His plan to save the world, God chooses a lowly young girl,
unimportant and insignificant in the eyes of the world,
unknown, and without status or title, simply a young girl.
And a virgin conceives a child, as simple and as wondrous as that.
To create this Child to be part man and part God,
wholly man and wholly God,
the Lord steps into the course of human events,
and Mary conceives the seed of God
by the power of the Holy Spirit Who comes upon her.
Once again, as in so many ways in our lives,
God does the impossible.
Today, as insignificant as we are,
He chooses us and steps into our lives unexpectedly
and with great purpose to bring about new life in us.
Just as surely as He created the impossible in Mary,
He also conceives in us the impossible as well,
creating new life in us through His Holy Spirit,
causing us to be strong where we are weak,
courageous where we are afraid,
and redeemed where we are in bondage.)
and they will call Him Immanuel–which means, "God with us."
(As surely as the promise came to Mary long ago
that what she bore within her
would be called the presence of God Himself,
just as surely does God assure us today that He is in and with us,
that God Himself abides with us today,
that what was born into humankind long ago
would also be born into us in this present day
to reveal to us that God is truly and forever with us.)
May the Lord richly bless you this day!
In Christ's love,
