for an everlasting sign, that will endure forever.”
(The Lord has just promised His people He would release them
from their Babylonian bondage and they "would go out in joy,"
that they "would be led forth in peace,"
and that the whole world, even nature, would see this miracle
and would rejoice in their release and in the Lord's work.
He has just told them that their release
would be like the briers and thorns of the desert
changing into magnificent and sweet-smelling trees
that provide beauty and shelter.
Now, He declares that these signs, this powerful declaration,
this Word of God, would serve to show people
the Lord's might and power and mercy and faithfulness.
Today, the Lord still promises us release from the shadows of our past,
the choke-hold of the present, and the fear of tomorrow.
He promises us that His Word is never spoken
unless what He says comes to pass.
His Word is so pregnant and bursting with purpose
that we can depend on what He says He will do today in our lives.
He wants to show us Himself, His truths,
and that we can depend on this Lord of Great Renown.)
May the Lord richly bless you this day!
