The Lord Be With You Today!
In all their distress He too was distressed,
(Like an earthly parent who himself suffers
from the painful discipline he metes out to his beloved child,
so the Lord, too, in His great love for us has to discipline us,
but also feels the pain of His affliction in His compassion for us.
He feels what we feel, suffers what we suffer.
He knows, and knows intimately, the feelings of our infirmities.)
and the angel of His presence saved them.
(Coming straight from the Presence of Almighty God,
Christ burst into the enslavement of His people,
rescued them and then guided them out of their bondage
and into the Promised Land of freedom in Him.
Today, the Lord still comes straight from the Father’s Presence
to invade our lives with His salvation and deliverance
and to take us to the Promised Land of life in Him.)
In His love and mercy He redeemed them;
(Only because of His great compassion have we been redeemed.
No one, nothing, forced the Lord into this path of salvation for His people.
Yet, He in His great mercy and grace, chose to make Himself available to us
and to become Savior and Redeemer to save and redeem us
from the hold of sin over us and to give us victory over darkness.)
He lifted them up and carried them all the days of old.
(Now, even in the challenges we face today,
the Lord graciously bears us up and helps us and strengthen us to overcome.
Just as He mercifully and lovingly guided the Israelites through the wilderness
which they themselves had brought on themselves,
so He still compassionately and lovingly reaches into the messes we make of our lives
and lifts us and carries us through every trial and every challenge.)
May the Lord richly bless you this day!
In Christ’s love,
