The Lord Be With You Today!

Isaiah 63:15-16a
Look down from heaven and see, from Your lofty throne, holy and glorious.
Where are Your zeal and Your might?
(As God’s people struggle under oppression, as they suffer from bondage,
they cry out to their God Whose history with them assures them
that He has the power and authority and the desire and loving mercy to deliver them.
At times when we feel the Lord is silent and inactive on our behalf,
at desperate times when we need His intervention,
that is when we, too, need to pray that the Lord shows us where and when He will act.
Knowing He zealously cares for us, knowing that He has the power to deliver us,
gives us the standing and authority to call on Him,
and to ask Him to intervene in ways only He can.
We can freely call on Him because of the goodness and faithfulness of His Nature
and because He sits in the highest heavens with all power and strength.)
Your tenderness and compassion are withheld from us.
But You are our Father, though Abraham does not know us or Israel acknowledge us;
(When it feels to us by His seeming silence
that He has forsaken us or is simply otherwise engaged,
that He is withholding His tender mercies from us,
like Isaiah, we have to stand on the truth of what we know and have experienced,
that He is our God, that He never leaves or forsakes us,
that He has a history of intervening in powerful ways in our lives.
When we sense the Lord’s silence, this is the very time we exercise our faith muscles
to remember Who He is and what He says He will do.
Even though our ancestor Abraham may no longer serve as an advocate for us,
even though Jacob or Israel may no longer acknowledge us as his descendants,
we know that God Who is our true Father does claim us, does name us as His inheritance,
and does provide for us in all the ways that we need.)

May the Lord richly bless you this day!

In Christ’s love,

Blessings!
